Application for visa to Ethiopia is normally obtain from the Ethiopian office in Hargeisa in person or for some nationals on arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

But according to source closed to Somaliland’s foreign ministry, the Ethiopian embassy in Hargeisa has suspended issuing visa in Hargeisa due to unconfirmed reports saying because of security reasons relating to the the preparations for the US president coming to Ethiopia next month .

However, the Somaliland foreign minister who spoke to the VOA has played down the Ethiopian’s visa suspension and said “They told us they run out of papers issued with visas and this has nothing to do with out relationship”

People travelling from Somaliland to Ethiopia require visa for entry but there are hundreds of Ethiopians flocking into Somaliland everyday and one asks visas for their entry.
