According to Waaheen News paper in Hargeisa an Ethiopian man working for the secret service was murdered in Hargeisa’s southern part of the city. The Somaliland’s deputy minister of the national security, Mr. Mohamed Muse Diriye has confirmed the murder of a Ethiopian man working as secret service in Hargeisa.

Speaking to the media in his office on Wednesday, the deputy minister of Somaliland’s National Security said “The case of the murder of that man is under investigation”.

Some sources are quoted as saying the Ethiopian secret service agent was murdered by ONLF culprits secretly operating in Somaliland. But there are no confirmation from either Somaliland or the Ethiopian who was behind the murder of the security secret serviceman but number of Somalilanders and Ethiopian people are arrested for suspicion of taking part the plot or carrying out the murder.

“There are number of people who are now in custody for the murder of that man and there are some with evidence of (killing) and some with no evidence (of taking part)of the killing”

If this is confirmed that ONLF culprits carried out the assassination of a secret service working in Somaliland for Ethiopia, it will be the first time such acts took place in Somaliland.

Other reports also saying Ethiopian official from the secret service and officials from the Somali region of Ethiopia came to Hargeisa to assist Somaliland investigators for the murder of the unnamed secret service agent in Hargeisa.

Ethiopia has an embassy in Somaliland’s capital, Hargeisa and it has unofficial treaty they suspect can be extradited without due process.
