Dr. Dihod who lost eyes sight for unknown reasons has not lost his vision for Somaliland, and he was once a colonel in the Somali military under the military regime of General Mohamed Siyad Barre before he abandoned his post and left for Britain where he established with SNM and later became British citizen.

Dr. Dihod, an eloquent speaker of the Somali language, was a gifted communicator who had many admirers (as well as detractors) all over the world.

Dr. Dihod was widely believed he was the only non Muslim Somaliland politician, even though he was born as Muslim but later converted to Christianity and for this he was used to get death threats but his bloodline with Somaliland was stronger than any other associates.

His burial was conducted as traditional and the head of the state members lead by President Siilaanyo attended the funeral. Some politicians stayed away from his burial service and failed to pass their condolences for reasons associated with political animosity against him.

Dr. Dihod will be missed and his role in Somaliland’s political views will live with people as he was described an influential all Somaliland governments could not ignore him to represent the nation on many fronts.
